Marangu |
Also nicknamed “Cocacola route” as very popular due to its short duration, however poor acclimatisation profile resulting in relatively lower percentage of successful attempts. Only route with (basic) huts accommodation all the way along. |

Machame |
Most popular route, scenic. Joins up with Lemosho and Shira routes before Lava Tower. Difficult route however very good for acclimatisation. |

Lemosho |
Approaches from the west through Londorossi gate, southern traverse. One of the newer routes so fewer climbers however very scenic, beautiful heath section, excellent for acclimatization. |

Shira |
Western approach however long drive to the starting point of the trek at 3,400m. Very scenic, southern traverse. Joins Lemosho route at Shira 1 camp (Day 2). Excellent for acclimatisation with 4 nights around 3,800m - 4,000m. With the higher starting point, recommend 2 days relaxation / acclimitazation in Arusha (1,400m) prior to the start of the climb |

Rongai |
Approaches from north near the border with Kenya. Fewer climbers however less difficult route. Good acclimatisation profile. Scenic. Same base camp as Marangu route before summit climb |

Newest route, western approach, scenic with a near 360 degree traverse. Longer duration leading to excellent acclimatisation profile. |
